Release - My One Word

When the New Year hit, Twitter exploded with chatter about One Word. Clueless, I took to Google like any curious girl would which led me to Melanie's post, which took me to One Word 365!

And the heaven's parted and knowledge rained down on my late to the party self. Apparently, having One Word has been a thing for a while. Who knew?

One Word explains it so well:

So what would my word be . . . what did God want me to focus on this year? As I prayed, different words bounced through my heart and mind until one settled in: Release.

Definition #1, that's what Jesus has done for me! He has freed me from the bondage of sin! Check out Romans 7:6!

Now there's a WHOOOO HOOOOO moment if ever there was one. My problem is with the second part of the verse. That whole old way of being chained to the letter of the law. Accepting the exchange of being released to live in a new way in the Spirit. That's hard.

That's where I get hung up. It's where I need to let go, to surrender. It's where definition #1 meets #4 for me.

To truly be free of the confinement and bondage of the old way, my old ways, I have to let go of some things, some ideas and traditions, and maybe even some people.

I'm going to use a book by Mike Ashcraft & Rachel Olsen to help me look for ways to use Release on a daily basis.

I'm not sure what Release in 2013 will look like, but I can't wait to find out!

So grateful to Only A Breath's Melanie for making my fabulous Release blog button! I'll be joining her Linking Party on the 15th of each month with lots of other bloggers sharing their One Word journey. Follow me there and see what God is doing!

  4. Hi there!
I also posted a link over at Melanie's. I was two after you so no worries - you weren't the last to arrive at the party this month. ;)

Anyways, I thought I'd hop over to your place in bloggy land and take a peek around.

I must say I LOVE your post about your One Word. I'm gonna look around a bit more and I'm sure I'll stop by again.

    Have a blessed week!
